What facilities are available at Pegasus Golf & Sports Club?
18-hole golf course, swimming pool, gymnasium, tennis centre, restaurant and bar, driving range, pro shop and practice greens.

What is the length of the course?
The course is a par 72, championship length course, playing approximately 6300m from the championship tees, to 5000m from the forward tees.

Is this a championship golf course? How hard will it be to play?
The course is designed to be challenging, enjoyable and memorable for all levels of golfers, from the scratch golfer to the high handicapper. Accordingly, four sets of tees are provided at each hole.

Generous fairways encourage unconstrained and swift play. The location of bunkers, lakes and areas of natural wetland at varying distances from the tee and the provision of alternate lines of play provide opportunities for the golfer to consider strategy as well as test skill and accuracy. Receptive contouring rewards the successfully placed shot.

The course will be rated in association with NZ Golf according to ‘how the course plays’ following construction.

Is Pegasus Golf Course private or public?
Mapleham is a public course open to anyone through memberships or green fees (pay per play).

Who is the designer of the Golf Course?
Its initial basic layout was a joint effort between Mason & Wales architect, master planner and golfer Francis Whittaker, Boffa Miskell, and Greg Turner Golf. Overall course design has been tasked to Boffa Miskell, a leading New Zealand environmental and design consultancy. Boffa Miskell has been involved in the development of a number of courses throughout New Zealand, including Millbrook and Clearwater in the South Island and Formosa in the North Island.

The current principal golf course designer for Boffa Miskell is Kristine Kerr. Kristine has designed high-profile courses internationally (Europe and Asia) with leaders in the field, including Gary Player Design and Nelson & Haworth. Kristine is passionate about golf and dedicated to creating high quality and enjoyable golfing experiences, with a strong sense of place. A New Zealander, Kristine is one of just a few female golf course designers in the world. She returned to New Zealand specifically to work on the design of Mapleham.

Greg Turner has been tasked to further peer review the course and provide ongoing input into its design and structure.

What is the completion/title date?
Construction commenced in late 2006. Pegasus Golf Course and its facilities are expected to be completed by November 2009. First titles are expected in May 2008, with the last titles expected in March 2009.

Is the Pegasus Town Display Centre model accurate in its representations of elevation and other aspects of the Pegasus Golf Course? How indicative is the model?
The Display Centre model is highly indicative of the routing of the golf course and waterways. We are currently continuing the process of design development, which involves finalising the strategy of the course, the location, and contouring of features (fairways, greens, tees, bunkers etc). Height of housing above the course will vary slightly depending on the design.

Subtle shaping is intended to create broad flowing lines, strategic play and visibility of features, yet enable the course to appear natural within its surroundings.

Does membership come with the purchase of a Mapleham section? How much is membership?
Life Membership of the Pegasus Golf & Sports Club is included in the purchase price of either a Pegasus or Mapleham property when full ownership title is purchased, and applies to a family of three people (two adults and one child) living in the same Pegasus or Mapleham residence. Life Members have access to a wide range of benefits, including up to 50% off annual subscription rates, preferential bookings, and discounts on Club products and services. Mapleham residents’ Life Memberships will continue for as long as they remain property owners with full ownership title, and pay an annual Basic Sports Club subscription.

How much are the green fees?
Green fees are: $90 for 18 holes (weekend); $60 for 18 holes (mid week); $60 for 9 holes (weekend); $40 for 9 holes (mid week). Green fees are subject to change.

Does membership of the golf course include tennis, gym etc?
Members can chose from a range of annual subscriptions. Full subscriptions will include access to the golf course, tennis centre, swimming pool, gym, driving range, plus the clubrooms, restaurant, bar and other facilities. There are also non-golf subscription options enabling access to some or all of the other sports facilities, depending on Member preferences.

What consents for both land use and subdivision have been obtained?
All of the Pegasus Golf Course consents are now fully approved.

What is the likelihood of 10% size variation of any of the lots?
We do not envisage that there will be any sizeable variation in the area of these sections. While the documentation indicates up to 10% variation, we think it highly unlikely that there will be variations of this level. However, we have reserved the right for adjustments either way.

How will the water be kept clear and free of weed?
Bore-fed fresh water will constantly flow through the series of interconnected lakes, keeping the water clear and minimising the potential for the growth of weed. The lakes have been designed at varying elevations with associated weirs and streams that will provide water features as well as facilitating aeration and elevation change. Piped water will feed isolated lakes adjacent to holes 3 and 12, with outflows also piped for circulation.

Will waterways be lined?
All the waterways will be lined and sealed. The lake in front of the clubhouse will feature a rock retaining wall in keeping with clubhouse construction materials.

Will the driving range be fenced?
Dense boundary planting of mature native and exotic tree species, combined with generous safety margins to adjacent uses, is proposed to provide an effective screen for safety and visibility of the driving range and to enhance the natural setting. Fencing is not planned at this stage.
